The custody services industry is highly concentrated, with intense price competition favouring large players. Almost half of the global assets are under the custody of the four most prominent players.

In such a scenario, it is no surprise that in contrast to the 8.1% annual growth rate of assets under custody for the four largest custodians since 2015, their servicing fees increased by only 1.7% annually in the same period.
