Model portfolio frameworks have grown exponentially in the traditional advisory world over the past few years. The central investment team has pushed models to enable their advisors to focus more on financial planning and less on being the portfolio manager — a tactic that facilitates a higher level of investment governance and helps retain client assets when advisors jump ship. On the other side, Asset Managers have invested heavily in their model portfolio businesses to provide an extra value add to their advisor clients and, of course, drive flows into their own products.
