Optimising data aggregation for seamless ESG reporting and investor transparency
Ruth Asset Management has been going through a transformation. A merger of two organisations with different approaches to data management, the launch of a new website, and the demand for aggregating several data
sources prompted the asset manager to look for technological solutions to the emerging data challenges.

One of the core issues faced by the asset manager concerned data aggregation. Gathering and processing data from different third-party data providers was cumbersome, especially since institutions have varied approaches to working with data.

According to the recent international industry survey by the US-based custody bank Northern Trust, 37% of asset managers struggle to consolidate data from multiple, disparate internal and external sources, placing this issue among the top three data challenges within the global sector.

The evolving sustainability reporting requirements also prompted Ruth Asset Management to upgrade its approach to data management. Data aggregation, data sourcing and consistency when launching and growing
their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) offerings emerged as a significant challenge for 60% of respondents. Combined with the Swedish asset manager’s strong commitment to ESG efforts, new ESG reporting requirements inspired Ruth Asset Management to prioritise establishing a
quality approach to managing sustainability data.

The processes of aggregating external and internal data sources and complying with sustainability reporting requirements have traditionally been labour-intensive and manual. To automate these workflows Ruth Asset Management opted for Kidbrooke’s API-based solution.
