This session was led by Luc Haldimann, Co-Founder and CEO of Unblu, and facilitated by Blaise Cardozo, Director of Sionic. In it, participants looked at the benefits of having widespread access to personalised client portals and mobile apps.

The WealthTech Matters event series is an annual celebration of the wealth management industry and its technological advancements. Every year we collaborate with Owen James to offer COOs, CTOs, CIOs, and their teams from the top wealth management firms and private banks, an opportunity to network and exchange and gain valuable insights.

Post-Covid-19, adoption levels for communication tools have been staggering as people embraced face-to-face meetings once again. However, participants all had stories to tell when it came to difficulties in using and integrating communication tools.

Based on that, the discussion focused on identifying the features of the ideal client communication platform, focusing on ease of use and adoption. Participants also considered technology’s effect on the recruitment and retention of talent, recording processes, and client expectations.

When talking about the adoption process, participants said they felt a lack of control when switching platforms; the new platforms need to be accessible to make the adoption process seamless. Additionally, some respondents cited the need for clear internal communication about the benefits of any new solutions, and to ensure there were advocates within the team.

Some thought that one of the benefits of implementing new technologies involves a higher chance of retaining and attracting talent, mainly due to increased efficiency, as advisers could track their communications easily – which would also help from a compliance standpoint, especially after the Consumer Duty Act came into effect.

It is increasingly clear that technology has become a USP, and clients, especially younger ones, expect to receive a digitised service. Personalised client portals and mobile apps are also key for enhancing client experience. They allow clients to self-serve, and present additional ways for advisers to engage beyond phone calls and email.

About WealthTech Matters
Owen James and The Wealth Mosaic have collaborated to create a series of triannual events for key decision-makers from the private wealth industry.

Technology is core to the future wealth management model, but in an increasingly specialist technology environment, wealth managers must engage with a deeper knowledge and understanding of what technology is available and can deliver across the three main areas of their business: their clients, their advisers and staff and their business processes.

WealthTech Matters focuses on these three themes to help delegates discover and discuss the technology solutions that will solve the key challenges facing their business.
