Earlier this year in Zürich, Switzerland, we interviewed Juerg Stalder, Head of Regulatory Propositions with SIX Group, at our Swiss WealthTech Live 2024 conference.

An all-day event brought together key players from the Swiss and international wealth management sectors to discuss the latest trends and advancements in WealthTech. The event featured in-depth discussions on the most pressing topics, with participants ranging from private and cantonal banks to family offices, external asset managers, technology vendors, and consultants. These stakeholders shared their experiences, insights, and visions for the future of the wealth management industry.

We interviewed Juerg, and asked him to share his thoughts on how the regulatory landscape might evolve in the Swiss wealth management industry. In his view, there are lots of opportunities ahead, with the possibility to leverage regulatory enriched data to drive not just regulatory-driven workflows, but also improve the customer interaction and experience. What is very important is the opportunity that now exist the regulatory classification that is already attached to a financial product can be made a part of the advisory process. This gives the customer far greater transparency around how a product is taxed, say, or what costs are related to it.

We also asked him to share his views on how the Swiss regulatory landscape might be fostering innovation. The Swiss regulator is seen to be an advocate of innovation, and is keen to ensure regulation does not get in the way of innovation. Looking beyond Switzerland, there are also frameworks being put into place to promote digital assets…all quite encouraging when viewed in the context of industry innovation.
